Youth Evaluation Services
The Center offers a full range of assessment services tailored to your typical referral questions regarding children and adolescents who are experiencing psychological, emotional, behavioral or learning problems. We welcome referrals from parents, physicians, school professionals and other therapists.
We will work closely with you, your school staff and family physician when appropriate, to develop an individualized treatment plan for your youth. Working within a collaborative process allows better understanding of your child’s difficulties and facilitates progress in achieving desired change.
The treatment plan may include a combination of:
- Individual “talk” therapy
- Parent skills education
- Family therapy
- Group therapy
We recognize the importance of early and accurate diagnosis and intervention in order to achieve best results. Some referral concerns and questions may relate to the following situations:
- Behavioral and attitude problems
- Dramatic changes in mood or energy level
- Significant distractibility, forgetfulness, disorganization or impulsivity
- Difficulty learning or attaining expected grades
- Social problems, including awkwardness and difficulty making friends
- Anxiety or sleep problems
- Alcohol or drug abuse
- Family concerns
- Changes in eating patterns, weight fluctuation
- School refusal
- Asperger’s/Autism spectrum disorders
Should your child’s difficulties require further clarification to pinpoint a diagnosis or treatment plan, a combination of psychological tests may be used including:
- Cognitive/Intellectual
- Neuropsychological
- Behavioral/Emotional
- Academic/Learning styles
- Personality/Temperament
- Alcohol/Chemical abuse risk
- ADD/ADHD
