Telehealth refers to providing psychotherapy services remotely using technology, such as video conferencing or telephone. One of the benefits of Telehealth is that the client and clinician can engage in services without being in the same physical location. This saves time, increases flexibility in working sessions into your weekly schedule, and saves travel time.
Most insurance benefits cover this service just as they would “in-person” therapy. We are happy to accommodate this service as the need or preference arises. The Telehealth program we use is HIPAA compliant. Below are some pointers on how to prepare for a good Telehealth session:
- Prior to your first session, you will have discussed the steps to connect to the Telehealth session with your therapist
- Choose a location that is private and comfortable for you be in during the duration of the call (assuring your privacy)
- Check your internet service to make sure you have a strong signal or you can use your cellular service
- Make sure the lighting is adequate in the location you choose to have your session
