Michele is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) who enjoys working with individuals and couples. She has been in practice for 16 years.
Michele views therapy as a gift of deserved time you give to yourself to explore your hopes and fears, vent about daily struggles and build skills to manage them, or to process losses and embark on a healing path. She believes therapy also offers a safe space to tell your story, to rediscover your strengths, to mend relationships, or to regain a sense of life direction through self-understanding and insight.
Because Michele believes the alliance between client and therapist is key to success in therapy, she works to create a trusting and authentic relationship with her clients. Michele describes her therapeutic style as optimistic, calming and hopeful, believing that everyone can empower themselves to create the life they desire.
Michele’s areas of interest and experience are grief and loss, anxiety and depression, adjustments and life-cycle transitions, perinatal issues and geriatric issues. Michele also has experience counseling couples. She uses therapies such as cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, strengths-based, companioning therapy for grief and loss, and life-review therapy for senior adults. She also encourages mindfulness, stress management and other centering practices with her clients.
Michele holds an MA in Counseling Psychology from Saint Xavier University and a BA in English and Journalism from Northern Illinois University. She also holds certifications in perinatal grief and loss, perinatal mood disorders and perinatal education.
“If you must look back, do so forgivingly. If you must look forward, do so prayerfully. However, the wisest thing you can do is be present in the present …. gratefully.” ~ Maya Angelou
