Dr. Bland is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC)
Michael’s practical approach entails a therapeutic alliance that is warm, empathic, supportive and interactive. At the core of his work is a belief in an individual’s innate capacity to grow and adapt which contributes to lasting improvements and changes in one’s overall quality of life. The goals of his treatment include relief of the symptoms that brought you to therapy, helping establish positive solutions to problematic areas of your life, and providing helpful information and resources for your situation.
Dr. Bland works as a therapist, a professional consultant, and a psychometrician. In his clinical work, Dr. Bland specializes in individual therapy and couples counseling, as well as cognitive and mental health assessments of children, adolescents, and adults.
With over 20 years of clinical experience in providing direct clinical services to adolescents and adults who struggle with post-traumatic stress, depression, anxiety, as well as individuals dealing with identity issues, life changes including vocational, employment, and relational issues, and grief/loss issues. At the Center, Dr. Bland provides educational and mental health assessments.
Dr. Bland has earned a Master of Arts (M.A.) and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, as well as a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from the Catholic Theological Union and a Doctorate in Ministry (D.Min.) in Clinical Pastoral Counseling from the Chicago Theological Seminary.
