Emily is a Licensed Social Worker. Emily’s specialized education and training prepares her to work with individuals and couples with concerns about sexuality.
Emily is a multi-cultural, trauma-informed, LGBTQ+ affirmative psychotherapist who serves all genders, sexual orientations, relationship configurations. She primarily works with adolescents and adults struggling with general mental health or sexuality concerns. She is passionate about working with sexual trauma/abuse, eating disorders, mood disorders, depression, anxiety, relationship discrepancies, transitional life events, grief and loss, sexual functioning concerns, revitalization of intimacy, and gender identity and sexual orientation concerns.
Emily approaches therapy systemically and collaboratively. She values each person’s personal and unique journey and believes that the therapeutic alliance establishes the opportunity where personal growth and development can flourish. Emily aims to foster a safe and supportive therapeutic environment where sensitive issues can be explored in order to create life-long change, acceptance and healing.
Emily caters her interventions to meet her client’s specific needs. She utilizes a holistic approach incorporating psychodynamic, feminist, emotionally-focused therapy with cognitive-behavioral and dialectical behavioral interventions, and mindfulness and stress-reduction techniques in her therapeutic practice.
Emily earned her B.A in Communication from University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana and her Masters of Social Work and Masters of Education in Human Sexuality from Widener University. Widener University is the leading clinical program for Human Sexuality Studies.
